Interact Club of St. Joseph International School Hosts 1-Day Photography Course

The Interact Club of St. Joseph International School, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Kuching Unity City, supported by sponsors Canon Malaysia, Leaves Food Industries Sdn. Bhd. and St Joseph's International School Kuching, proudly organized a one-day photography course for students and aspiring photographers on 28th September 2024.

Held on the school premises, the course was facilitated by Edwin Lay, a Kuching-based Canon Ambassador and renowned photographer. Edwin shared his extensive knowledge and experience, teaching participants the fundamentals of photography, camera handling techniques, composition, and lighting tips.

Students were given the opportunity to work with Canon's latest cameras and equipment, courtesy of Canon Malaysia, allowing them to practice hands-on techniques under Edwin’s expert guidance. The course was well-received, with over 15 participants benefiting from Edwin’s insights into the art and science of photography.

The event aimed to ignite the passion for photography among young students while fostering creativity and technical skills. Rotary Club of Kuching Unity City President, Ms. Careen Chua, expressed her gratitude towards the sponsors and supporters, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in shaping the future of the younger generation.
 

Canon Malaysia’s representative, Mr. Eric Tia, also highlighted Canon’s ongoing commitment to supporting educational programs in the local community especially among the youths.
 

Leaves Food Industries Sdn. Bhd., the event's key sponsor, provided refreshments and logistical support, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all participants. The event concluded with a group photo, and each participant received a certificate of completion.

This course marks the beginning of what the Interact Club and its collaborators hope will be a series of skill-building workshops aimed at enriching students' extracurricular activities.

The Interact Club of St. Joseph International School will organise a photography competition open to students only through out Sarawak. Participants will receive a participation e-certificates, Winner Certificates and Prize to be announced later on.
