ROTARY EMBRACE GEN ALPHA

30^TH MAY 2023 - HANDOVER OF THE SPECTACLES

 

The RCKUC sponsored the first 13 pairs of spectacles to students and teachers under the charity event "Rotary Embrace Gen Alpha - Children are the hope of the future" in February 2023.

 

Some beneficiaries visited the corporate partner, Guan Ho Leong Optical in BDC Commercial Centre, to collect their spectacles. Mr Mason volunteered to deliver the remaining ones to SK Saint Bernard Sadir in Puncak Borneo, Padawan, in early March 2023. The RCKUC is thankful for the opportunity to help students and teachers to see clearly.

 

 

10^TH FEBRUARY 2023

 

Rotary Embrace Gen Alpha – 40 community leaders from members, sponsors, and volunteers were pleased to embrace 102 pre and primary boarding schools’ students from B40 families, including 31 teachers and staffs from SK. Saint Bernard Sadir located at Puncak Borneo, Padawan.

 

Led by Project OC, Rotarian Dato’ Dominic Su, the mission trip was completed successfully on 10 Feb 2023. The handover session and community services were aligned with Rotary 7 area of focus, and was held in conjunction with graduation and appreciation ceremony of the school, witnessed by G.O.H YB Dr.Belek @ Jerip Anak Susil.

 

Thanks, Ms.Cindy for highlighting the challenges of this boarding school and glad we could contributed our parts.

50 story books (English, Malay) and 57 sanitary pads were donated to targeted students too.

Since 1905, Rotarians has continued to unite, take action and create lasting change across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. And today – we have reached out to Generation Alpha, seeing a rich continuation of this wonderful NGO.

Rotary Embrace Gen Alpha - Children are the hope of the future.

 

We will be carry on service project at SK Saint Bernard Sadir, boarding school located at Puncak Borneo Padawan on 10 Feb, Friday.

 

We will be donating 70 Malay story books and 30 English story books to enrich the collection of existing school library, provides 5 whiteboards donated by Flexxo Trading and a hockey set donated by Regal Group for talented student, which is align with area of focus of Rotary Club, Basic Education and Literary.

 

For Disease Prevention and Management & Maternal and child health, which are another 2 areas of focus,
Pharmacist Madam Kiing from Alpro Pharmacy will be sharing about the importance of deworm and sponsors deworm medicine for children. In addition, 20dB Hearing will be conducting hearing assessments and sponsor hearing aids, Guan Ho Leong Optical will help students to conduct eye assessments and sponsors spectacles for those in needs and Alpro Phamarcy will be sponsoring eye supplements for students.

 

Teachers and stuffs of the school are very important people to take care of 102 boarding school students. Therefore, we will provide health screening including blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI and cholesterol tests for 31 of them.

 

Empowering girls is still the highlight for Rotary Year 2022-2023, we will be delivering sanitary pads for female students.

 

Besides, we will repainting the school and the mural too with the help of artists Gerald Goh from Impression Sarawak, and few talented artists, whom are Ng Paik San, Winnie Wong and Angelina Bong. 10 talented students had been selected to help with mural repainting too.

 

It’s our honor to have YB Datuk Dr. Belek@Jerip Al.Susil as our guest of honor for this servicing project.
